Powertime is a fintech platform enabling South Africans to purchase prepaid electricity, airtime, data, and bill payments through mobile apps (iOS & Android), web, and partner platforms.
We operate:
B2C: Direct-to-consumer via our apps and website
B2B: API-based distribution to partners such as wallets, super-apps, and payment platforms (e.g. SnapScan)
Powertime sits at the intersection of utilities, payments, and digital distribution, with strong infrastructure already in place. The next phase is accelerated growth through partnerships, new channels, and disciplined P&L ownership.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly entrepreneurial Entrepreneur in Residence – Growth Manager to own and scale growth initiatives across both B2C and B2B channels.
This role is ideal for someone who has operated in a B2B SaaS / platform environment, is comfortable with commercial ownership, and wants to act as a mini-founder inside an established fintech.
You will be responsible for identifying, launching, and scaling new growth levers, while managing commercial performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Growth & New Channels
Identify and launch new growth channels (B2B partnerships, embedded distribution, new customer segments)
Build and manage strategic partnerships (wallets, payment apps, SaaS platforms, utilities, aggregators)
Develop and test new go-to-market strategies for both B2C and B2B
Turn ideas into revenue-generating initiatives, not just decks
2. Partnerships & Business Development
Source, negotiate, and close B2B API partnerships
Own partner onboarding from commercial agreement to go-live
Manage ongoing partner performance and expansion opportunities
3. P&L Ownership
Own the commercial performance of assigned growth initiatives
Track revenue, costs, margins, and unit economics
Ensure growth initiatives are scalable and profitable
Work closely with finance and leadership on forecasting and prioritisation
4. Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership
Work hands-on with product, tech, operations, and support
Translate commercial opportunities into clear execution plans
Remove blockers and drive initiatives from concept to launch
Act as a bridge between strategy and execution
Profile We’re Looking For
Experience
3–5 years experience in:
B2B SaaS
Fintech, payments, or platform businesses
Growth, partnerships, business development, or commercial roles
Experience working with APIs, platforms, or digital products
Exposure to P&L responsibility or revenue ownership is a strong advantage
Mindset & Skills
Highly entrepreneurial, self-starter mentality
Comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch
Strong commercial and negotiation skills
Data-driven and financially literate (unit economics matter)
Able to think strategically and execute tactically
Excellent communication skills (internal & external)
