The Pre-Authorization (Hold) feature allows merchants to secure funds on a client's card without charging them immediately. This is particularly useful for deposits, bookings, or reservations, ensuring the funds are available when needed.
Key Points:
✔ Hold Duration: Funds can be held for up to 7 days before they are automatically reversed.
✔ Collection Options: You can collect the full or partial amount from the pre-authorized hold.
✔ No Fees on Holds: There are no fees when initiating a hold; fees only apply when funds are collected.
✔ Manual Reversals: You can manually release the funds before the 7-day period if needed.
How It Works:
Initiate a Hold: Navigate to Email Pay on your PayGenius dashboard.
Choose Action: Select Hold to secure funds or Payments to collect them.
Client Authorization: The client will receive a payment authorization request. Once processed, the funds are marked as Authorized but not yet charged.
Collect or Release Funds: You can later choose to collect the full/partial amount or manually release the hold before it expires.
From there, you can:
Reverse the funds (returning them to the client’s card).
Collect the funds (either fully or partially).
All processed transactions will also appear in the Transaction section of your PayGenius account.
💡 Additional Note: When collecting funds, you can add a note for the client, which will be visible alongside the original payment request note (which can be found by clicking the clock icon).
